Colorado Springs Gazette reported that an Air Force Academy Athletic official was arrested in a Colorado Springs prostitution sting. Demot J. Coll resigned his position as head of the Academy Athletic Department’s Fundraising arm. Coll was cited for allegedly soliciting sex for cash from an undercover police officer.
Coll’s arrest comes as the Academy faces scrunity for misconduct by several of its athletes. The school did not comment ‘out of respect for Coll’s privacy’.
An Air Force spokesman at the Pentagon wouldn’t discuss Coll’s latest alleged misconduct but said integrity is key to the service.
“It is important that individuals who associate with the Air Force subscribe to established standards of behavior . ” Lt. Col. Chris Karns said. “The Air Force core values are non-negotiable.”
The academy has been working to root out misconduct in its athletic department since an August Gazette investigation revealed serious misconduct by a core group of athletes.
This certainly isn’t good for the academy and I would think that they will take steps to turn this image around quickly.
