According to a report by al.com, Alabama running back Kenyan Drake was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with count of obstructing government operations. Apparently the Crimson Tide RB ignored Tuscaloosa police and their direction to stay away from a crime scene.
Tuscaloosa Police spokesman Sgt. Brent Blankley stated,
“His [Drake] car was in the crime scene area, and he wanted to get to it. He tried to enter the crime scene and get to it anyway. We had a shooting and his vehicle was parked inside the crime scene. We told him that he could not get his vehicle and he tried to cross the crime scene anyway so he could get his vehicle. Officers arrested him for obstructing government operations.”
While it is still unclear what action if any Alabama will take, Drake should have heeded the direction. It doesn’t matter if you play for what could be regarded as the best football program, you still need to be a model citizen. With the season less than two months away, can we stay out of trouble?
