The postseason bowl game previously known as the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl will now be known as the ‘Catcus Bowl’. The Valley of the Sun Bowl Foundation made the announcement today.
The 26th Annual Cactus Bowl game will take place on Friday, January 2nd and is played in Tempe, Arizona (home of Arizona State’s Sun Devil Stadium). The Cactus Bowl will match the 6th selection from the Pac-12 Conference against the 5th selection from the Big-12 Conference as part of a 6 year agreement between the two conferences. Cactus Bowl Executive Director Mike Nealy shared,
“Our new name represents an iconic symbol for the state of Arizona. The name will also resonate with the thousands of fans traveling to the Southwest to experience our great bowl game and unmatched hospitality.”
The game was founded in 1989 as the Copper Bowl and spent its first 11 years at Arizona Stadium on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson before relocating in 2006 to Tempe.
