Title Hopes Lost

Have hopes of a PAC-12 and a National title disappeared for Oregon?  Stanfield for the second year in a row have for the most part knocked the Ducks out of a chance to compete in those two highly coveted games.

I believe that Stanford is the one team outside of the SEC who can play like an SEC team.  They have no problem with slowing the game down with their defense while at the same time being able to speed up a game to put up huge points.

What works in the Cardinal schedule is that their load to Utah came early in the season.  History has shiwn that an early season loss isn’t add detrimental as a late loss.

There is still a lot of football to be played but Stanford has positioned itself perfectly to potentially represent the PAC-12 Conference in the National BCS Title Game.

Week 3 BCS Standings with Florida State & Oregon Trading Spots

When the Week 3 BCS Standings were released, it was Florida State and not Oregon at the Number 2 spot. Florida State had an advantage in that Oregon had a bye week and the Seminoles played a top 10 team in Miami and then humiliated them in the second half. Unless there is an upset, I expect this battle for the Number 2 spot to go on for the remainder of the season.

Notre Dame Escapes against Navy

The University of Notre Dame 7-2 escaped with a win against Navy 4-4 in South Bend, Indiana 38-34. Despite the loss of their starting QB Everett Goldson, the Fighting Irish have quietly put together an impressive season.  They still have work to do to see if they can secure a BCS spot.  Notre Dame’s last 3 games can validate their season: at th  e University of Pittsburgh, home to BYU and then a trip to Standford.

Notre Dame Blasts Air Force

QB Tommy Rees and Notre Dame blasts Air Force 45-10 Saturday. Reese who was knocked out of his last game with a minor neck injury played wonderfully, completing 17 of 22 passes for 284 yards and 5 TDs. The Irish at 6-2 have placed themselves back in picture for a nice Bowl game. Reese is the 4th Notre Dame QB to throw for 50 or more TDs Joining Powlus, Clausen and Brady Quinn.

Miami Escapes and Pulls out a Victory

During a night filled with mistakes and injuries, Miami (6-0, 2-0) escaped with a victory against North Carolina (1-5, 0-3) in Chapel Hill Thursday night 27-23. Poor QB play by Stephen Morris and a last second desperation play almost did the Hurricanes in. Miami was exposed this evening but they are still on track for both the ACC and National Championships.

In replacing Duke Johnson, RB Dallas Crawford came up huge rushing for 137 yards and 2 TDs on 22 attempts. Up next for Miami is a home game against Wake Forest before a trip to Tallahassee and a date with Florida State.

USC and Notre Dame clash this weekend

USC and Notre Dame clash this weekend and do not like each other.  Tommy Rees has thrown 13 interceptions already this season and if USC can brings stingy defense to play, it will be a rough night  for Notre Dame.

This game usually brings a lot of excitement, but this season it has lost some of it’s luster as both teams are underachieving this season.

Coach Dan!

Notre Dame holds on in Arlington Texas

Notre Dame (4-2) holds on for win against Arizona State (3-2) in AT&T Stadium, Home of the Dallas Cowboys. The win was sealed when Dan Fox scored on a 14 yard interception. Up next for the Fighting Irish is a home game against the USC Trojans.

FCS game to watch

People tell me that they would like some love for the FCS.

Here you go: the FCS game to watch this week is NDSU vs Northern Iowa.

North Dakota State University has looked very impressive again this season and also knocked off Kansas State in the opening of the football season this year and are owners of back to back Football Subdivision Titles.

Northern Iowa has also looked impressive in their first 4 games and also opened the football season beating Iowa State from the Big12 Conference.

I expect a very good match with my pick going to NDSU

Have a great day everyone

Coach Dan
