The University of Cincinnati and Indiana University announce a home-and-home series. The Hoosiers will host the Bearcats on September 18, 2021, with Cincinnati playing host on September 24, 2022.
Indiana Athletic Director Fred Glass shared,
“Facing Cincinnati reinforces our commitment to adding strong non-conference programs to our future schedules. It is a great opportunity for our large alumni base in the Greater Cincinnati Area to come out and watch the Hoosiers. Along with the addition of UConn (2019, 2020), we are set up to reach our goal of playing seven home games every season and are consistent with the Big Ten’s policy that each school play at least one major conference opponent in the non-conference each year.”
Bearcats athletic director Mike Bohn also commented on the series with Indiana,
“This is an important regional contest, and represents our continued emphasis on quality opponents for our fans to enjoy in our upcoming Nippert Stadium future.”
Cincinnati sources also have the Bearcats discussing possible future match-ups with Louisville, Kentucky and Pittsburgh.
Cincinnati and Indiana have squared off 14 times with Indiana holding a 9-3-2 advantage, playing last in 1998.
Cincinnati is taking this time to schedule opponents from the ‘Power 5′ Conferences including Ohio State, Michigan and Miami (Florida). Indiana is hoping every other program in the ‘Power 5′ doesn’t call expecting an easy win. Come on Indiana represent and put some defense with that potentially high scoring offense.
