In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Dave Wannstedt revealed that he will be back at the Collegiate level. He won’t be back as a football coach but as a television analyst. The former NFL coach and Pittsburgh Panthers (2004-2010) coach will join the FOX Sports’ College Football Pregame show (Half-time and Postgame) as well as co-host a weekly program on the Big 10 Network.
“I guess I am moving to the dark side, so to speak. I reached out to several media outlets to see if I could get into the TV side of things and Fox offered me this job after several discussions. I have always had it in the back of my mind that this is what I wanted to do and now I have the opportunity and it should be really a lot of fun and I think it is something that will be a challenge but that I’m really looking forward to.”
Wannstedt further added,
“Obviously, I’ll be busy but this is a good change for me. It was time to do something different, but this keeps me in the game and obviously I have a passion for football and a lot of insight after being in coaching for so long.”
Wannstedt didn’t comment on whether he would like to continue his coaching, but you have to think this season as an analyst will create more than a thought about rejoining the coaching ranks.
