It’s one thing to put up incredible numbers against a team with less talent but it’s something special when you can put on a performance against some of the best in College Football. Our Beast Mode Performers for Week 10 of the 2014 season has to begin with Auburn QB Nick Marshall.
Here are your Week 10 Beast Mode Performers.
Nick Marshall, Auburn: 15 of 22 for 254 yards, 2 TDs and 1 Int at Ole Miss. Marshall also added 50 rushing yards and 2 more TDs. Marshall has not be shy on the biggest stage. The Tigers stayed alive for the SEC West Division Title as well as for a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoffs.
Cody Kessler, USC: 21 of 32 for 400 yards, 5 TDs and 0 Int at Washington State. It was Cody Kessler and not the Nation’s leader in passing yards who put on a show. Unfortunately for the Cougars, Halliday was lost for the season due to a broken ankle. Before the injury, Halliday had thrown for 3,873 yards, with 32 touchdowns.
Cody Sokol, Louisiana Tech: 30 of 42 for 335 yards, 5 TDs and 1 Int Western Kentucky. Sokol and his 6-3 Bulldogs are undefeated in Conference USA play. In the last 2 weeks, the Senior has thrown for 758 yards with 8 TDs and only 1 Int.
James Conner, Pittsburgh: 38 carries for 263 yards, 3 TDs vs Duke. The Panthers tried to ride the Nation’s leading rusher (at 1,342 yards) to victory but came up short in double OT. Pittsburgh blew an opportunity to end the game when they missed a last second field goal. Earlier we said that a permanent spot should be reserved for Conner who is having an incredible year despite the inconsistent play of his team.
Brian Hill, Wyoming: 23 carries for 281 yards, 2 TDs at Fresno State. The Freshman and the Cowboys controlled the game against what many thought would be a contender for the Mountain West Conference title.
Pharoh Cooper, South Carolina: 11 receptions for 233 yards, 2 TDs in a losing effort vs Tennessee (42-45). This is not the season the Gamecocks had in mind when the season started. They along with many experts had the ol ball coach’s team winning the SEC East and contending for both an SEC Championship and factor into the College Football Playoffs.
Corey Coleman, Baylor: 3 receptions for 167 yards, 2 TDs vs KU to help his Bears stay in contention for the Big 12 Conference Title. Baylor travel to take on Oklahoma this upcoming Saturday.
QB Jameis Winston, Florida State: 25 of 48 for 401 yards, 3 TDs and 3 Ints at Louisville. Against the Top rated defense, Winston made sure the Second half was his and the Seminoles erased a 10 point deficit to keep themselves alive to defend their Championship.
