The NCAA agreed to settle claims over college-themed basketball and football video games produced by Electronic Arts. The settlement will award $20 million to certain former college basketball and football student-athletes.
This lawsuit was separated from the O’Bannon lawsuie and is not related to the $40 million settlement previously reached by EA Sports and the Collegiate Licensing Company.
NCAA Chief Legal Officer Donald Remy shared,
“With the games no longer in production and the plaintiffs settling their claims with EA and the Collegiate Licensing Company, the NCAA viewed a settlement now as an appropriate opportunity to provide complete closure to the video game plaintiffs.”
The complete details of the settlement remain to be finalized.
