Normally a program would be excited about starting the season winning its first two games. Despite being 2-0, Nebraska has to be worried about where they are. Nebraska barely escaped this afternoon 31-24 against FCS level McNeese State. The Cowboys were looking to pull off the upset but that was foiled by a 58 yard play by Tommy Armstrong Jr to Ameer Abdullah.
Their play has not been very inspiring but they ave a schedule which affords them the time to ‘get it’ together before Big 10 Conference play begins. The Cornhuskers’ schedule before a September Conference opener against Illinois include games at Fresno State and then at home against Miami.
Coach Bo Pelini faces criticism and rightly so for not having Nebraska consistently playing for Conference Titles, but that could change with a favorable Big 10 schedule–a Big 10 schedule that does not include Ohio State, Michigan or Michigan State. This could be their year but they have to play better.
