News: Kent State mourns the loss of Center Jason Bitsko

Kent State University is reporting that Senior Center Jason Bitsko passed away unexpectedly Wednesday. Bitsko, 21 was found unresponsive in the bedroom of his off-campus apartment shortly before 9am and Police believe that it may be due to an undetermined medical issue.

Kent State Athletic Director Joel Nielsen shared,

“Kent State University and the entire Kent community mourns his passing.  We are heartbroken by the news of Jason’s death. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, teammates and everyone whose lives he touched.”

Head coach Paul Haynes added,

“Our players, coaches and everyone involved with our team are hurting because he was family.  As a team, we will come together and get through this one day at a time.”

Bitsko, a native of Huber Heights, Ohio started all 12 games for the Golden Flashes in 2013 and he will be severely missed by his team and his classmates.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Jason’s family as well as with the Kent State University family.
