While speaking at a football camp over the weekend, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said that his Florida Gators team of ’08 was the best to ever play the sport. As reported by ohiostatescout.com, Meyer said
“I’ve been a part of a couple great teams, I think the best team to ever play the game in ’08 (at Florida). And that was (because) animal instincts took over on the field. They protected each other. Have you ever tried to reason with a wild animal?’ Think about that. Think about what I just said. You try to reason with a wild animal … you can’t reason with a wild animal. They protect each other. Have you ever tried to negotiate, evaluate, take a play off? If you’re a wild animal, that doesn’t happen.”
Was the now Ohio State coach correct in his assertion that the Tim Tebow led Gators were the best? That team went 13-1 and won the BCS Championship. The only blemish in that schedule was a loss to an 9-4 Ole Miss squad.
Coach, I am not saying you were un-biased in your conviction but I am going to say that you may regret that one loss hanging over your head when conversations of Nebraska, USC, Miami, Alabama etc come up.
