The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported that Pittsburgh cornerback Titus Howard has been suspended for the 2014 season. Panthers coach Paul Chryst announced that Howard was suspended for disciplinary reasons.
Howard played in 11 games as a freshman last season, totaling 21 tackles and two pass breakups. He was projected as a starter for the Panthers this fall opposite Lafayette Pitts. Howard will be able to practice and participate in team activities but cannot play in any games this season.
I am in favor of coaches like Chryst and Texas’ Strong for laying down the law. These student athletes cannot think that they are above the law and must put this sense of entitlement in check. I hope the young man learns from this as I am a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Panthers (my wife did is an alum).
