While many of the Big 10 members spoke favorably of their Conference’s chances of placing one of their own in the inaugural College Football Playoffs, it is the reigning Big 10 and Rose Bowl Champion Michigan State Spartans may be feeling a little disrespected headed into the 2014 season. The Spartans are not favored to repeat as the Ohio State Buckeyes were chosen to take both the Division and Conference Titles.
The Spartans had a very impressive 2013 campaign and have not reduced their expectations despite the challenging beginning of their schedule, which includes a date with Pac-12 favorites Oregon on September 6th.
Coach Dantonio spoke about his incredible defense and about several of his impact players.
“We are going to remain a very disciplined football team. We have a great offense… defensively we’ve had tremendous success. We led the Big 10 in 9 categories last year and we ranked in a number of them nationally.”
“We’ve talked about how to handle success. We are a little more of the hunted and its a precarious place to be. Respectability can fly right out the window.”
Do you think Michigan State is being disrespected or are they exactly where coach Dantonio wants them to be?
