In a report by Doug Haller, azcentral sports, Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez will receive a contract extension through May 31, 2019.
Details of the proposed extension would include an increase in annual base salary from $1.33 million to $1.5 million. The salary then would increase $100,000 every June 1 through 2018, when it would reach $1.9 million. Rodriguez also earns $495,000 annually for other duties including radio and TV appearances. Under the proposed deal, that sum would increase to $500,000.
In his first two seasons at Arizona Rodriguez has gone 16-10 with two bowl wins, and his Wildcats have gone 8-10 in Pac-12 play, finishing fourth in the Pac-12’s South Division each season.
Rich Rodriguez gets richer and the University of Arizona locks in both its football and basketball coaches (proposed an extension for basketball coach Miller).
