The Baltimore Sun is reporting that University of Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs will miss the remainder of the season with a lacerated kidney. Diggs was injured early in the fourth quarter of the Terp’s victory at Penn State, when he took a shot to the kidney area while diving and stretching out for the end zone after a catch. This will be the second season-ending injury for the former five-star recruit in as many years. Diggs had his 2013 season cut short after seven games by a broken leg.
The junior play maker is Maryland’s leading pass catcher with 52 receptions for 654 yards. The Terrapins will be tested by Michigan State when they visit this upcoming weekend. Diggs was suspended for that game anyway and now they will have to find a way to make up for the lost leadership and production. Maryland at 6-3 has three regular season games remaining: Michigan State, Michigan and Rutgers.
