Report: UNLV WR Maika Mataela gets another year of eligibility

Reported by the Las Vegas Sun, UNLV Wide Receiver Maika Mataela was granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA.  The Hawaii native originally attended Oregon State but transferred to UNLV. He did not play football for Oregon State or in his first year at UNLV, which was may have factored in the NCAA’s decision.

Mataela had 36 catches and 411 yards, along with three touchdowns for the Rebels in 2013. His experience should help a program looking for relevance in the Mountain West Conference.
