‘Rudy’ is back to explain New College Football Playoff (Video)

Nearly 21 years after the classic underdog movie Rudy, Sean Astin dawned the number 45 Notre Dame uniform.  This time it wasn’t to run onto Notre Dame Stadium; it was to promote the inaugural college football playoff via ESPN.

In this clip, Rudy (Astin) builds the excitement of the New College Football Playoff System with his fellow Fighting Irish,

“These two playoff games are going to rotate between 6 classic bowls.  You have the Rose Bowl, Sugar Bowl, the Cotton Bowl, Peach Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl.

Just picture it. New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Over the course of 36 hours we’re going to usher in the New Year being glued to our television sets, watching all of the best games. Isn’t this what college football is about? Fair play? Deciding who’s going to win the national championship on … the … field!”

The only thing that could have made this better was to show a clip of that infamous scene from the movie when he finally made it onto the field and the music would have been a nice touch.  Way to go Rudy!  We are ready to charge into the new era.  Bring on the 4 best and let’s do it.  Who knows, maybe the little guy gets in on the action.
