Utah names Travis Wilson starting QB for the 2014 season

Travis Wilson was named the starting QB for the Utah Utes heading into the 2014 season. Wilson played in nine games for the Utes as a sophomore in 2013, passing for 1,827 yards while adding 16 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Wilson also added 386 rushing yards with five touchdowns.

It was reported last month that Wilson had been medically cleared to continue his collegiate career. This was great news for the Junior who had sustained injuries (head related) that was thought could possibly end his career.

Wilson had competition for the top spot from transfer Kendal Thompson, who came over from Oklahoma. Thompson was a member of Oklahoma’s 2011 recruiting class and spent three years with the Sooners before announcing his transfer to Utah in February. Because Thompson graduated from Oklahoma in May, he is immediately eligible to play for the Utes this season.
