What is going on at Utah? After a successful 2014 campaign, the Utes have now lost both their Offensive and Defensive coordinators. Their Defensive coordinator Kalani Sitaki made a lateral move to be a part of Gary Andersen’s staff at Oregon State. Sitaki also took another assistant with him to Beaver country, Defensive Line coach Ilaisa Tuiaki. Now Dave Christensen has agreed to become the Offensive Line coach and Run-Game Coordinator at Texas A&M.
Also there are reports that Kyle Whittingham and Athletic Director Chris Hill have been at odds. Perhaps the departures are a part of Whittingham’s staff looking for more stability and not necessarily greater opportunities (at least at this point). Utah’s head coach Kyle Whittingham may have lost 3 of his best assistants but he could still keep the program on the rise and keep his job should he learn from his dynamics with upper leadership and his staff.
Utah had an outside chance to win the Pac-12 South Division but came up short, however they had a convincing performance with a 45-10 defeat of Colorado State in the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl. Stay tuned to what happens at Utah.
